Colour Bolt takes its inspiration from the coastal area of Cadiz province in southern Spain. Known as the Costa de la Luz - the Coast of Light because of the glimmering and vibrant light, the area has long been a magnet for artists. I have been fortunate to have spent the last 24 years here. Almost immediatelly the striking landscape began to creep into my work. At first it was more of a setting for some of my narrative pieces, but over time the landscape and especially the sea has become the subject in its own right.

Colour Bolt is the most recent of silkscreen prints and is something of a break from my previous works. This multi-coloured, multi-layered print with monotype is in a tiny limited edition of 12 prints. Each print is unique in colouring and gestural mark-making. The edition is made on a heavyweight 300 gram handmade paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset. The print is created by over-printing many layers, gradually building up the complete image.
