Acqua Alta (Italian for 'high water’) describes the exceptional tide peaks that occur periodically in the Venice Lagoon where they cause Venice to flood. In this large Venice inspired etching, a gondolier punts across a flooded St Mark's Square, the magnificent church of Santa Maria della Salute sits in the distance.

This print is an etching and aquatint made on a copper plate. It is printed on Somerset Velvet, a heavyweight 300 gsm handmade paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset and is signed and numbered by the artist.
